A successful Cultural Continuum is where cultural compliance, cultural competency, cultural humility and cultural optimization are operating simultaneously and cohesively. The Cultural Continuum is an organic and evolving environment requiring intentionality in order not just to represent diversity but produce inclusivity with all represented parties in the continuum.
Compliance defined as the state or act of conforming with or agreeing to do something; especially as it relates to enhancing a cultural environment.
Competence defined as an ability to do something, measured against a standard that enhances quality; especially as it relates to measuring our health as a culture.
Humility defined as modesty and respectfulness; the quality of being modest or respectful of another’s culture or a group; respect for the development of a culture of inclusion.
Optimizing requires making the best of valuable components that are vital to garnering cultural transformation and inclusion.
